SONGS FOR THE
CAUSE
- a concert featuring North Jersey’s top songwriting talent to
raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, as well as showcase some
of the area’s best in new music. The show benefited the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation – North Jersey Affiliate. The Komen Foundation (http://www.njakomen.org) is now in its 20th year, and they remain dedicated in
their fight to advance breast cancer research, education, screening and
treatment. SONGS FOR THE CAUSE 2003
featured eight of the finest musicians from the North
Jersey area performing a 3 hour live acoustic show. The event took place at The
Stanhope House in Stanhope, NJ: Featured artists are: Deb Ferrara,
Mef Gannon, Paul Gargiulo, Robert Matarazzo, Joe McKee, Angie McKenna, Kathy Phillips and Jack
Tannehill. Proceeds from the event went directly to The Komen Foundation,
North Jersey Affiliate. Audience members received a commemorative program
and CD sampler, featuring songs by each artist with their entrance donation of $20.00.
Dear Friends,
Thank you all for your donations and your amazing support. We raised just under $10,000.00 to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - North Jersey Affiliate. Seeing this event become a reality is very meaningful to me - it signifies something positive in memory of my sister, Lynn, who lost her battle with breast cancer in November of 2000. I discovered the Komen Foundation when she was sick and knew helping them would help me heal. Lynn was genuinely a beautiful woman inside and out… a model who later became a nurse; she spent every day caring for and helping others. I sincerely hope that with this event I have helped others… because that is what she would have wanted me to do.
