SONGS FOR THE CAUSEBreast cancer affects everyone - our friends, our neighbors, our own families. This Fall, NJ Songwriters in the Round, North Jersey's strongest songwriter's association, will once again sing for the cause. SONGS FOR THE CAUSE features the finest musicians from the tri-state area performing a live acoustic show. The concert raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research, as well as showcases some of the area's best in new music. Past shows have raised more than $21,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - North Jersey Affiliate. The Komen Foundation (http://www.njakomen.org) is now in its 21st year, and they remain dedicated in their fight to advance breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. The event is organized by Morris County songwriter Deb Ferrara whose own sister, Lynn, died of breast cancer in November 2000. "When Lynn was sick, I was searching the Internet and found the Komen Foundation's website," says Ferrara. "It had been founded by Nancy Brinker after she lost her sister, Suzy Komen, to breast cancer. A sister doing for a sister… needless to say, it stuck with me… The 'Power of a Promise,'" she says, recalling the Foundation's slogan.
